Haikus Are Getting Angry – Go With It! A rigid structure in poetry, as in writing fiction, will elevate emotion if you give in to it.
A haiku about a favorite tree sounds like a mechanism devoid of feeling.
But I will improvise a little here:
The soft croak of boughs
Old, tired, yawning with wind
Cranky oak stands fast.
