Reading this this morning was pretty serendipitous. I was in a pretty dark place last night, and a lot of it had to do with not writing, when I felt like I should be writing. I get that feeling quite often. It helps to see a published author admit that they struggle frequently. Thanks for the post!

I hope it passes. Try not to beat yourself up over writing - great as daily writing is, writing cannot be forced - also, I keep this in mind: reading is writing, editing is writing, writing mindless web copy or a technical manual is writing, thinking about writing/plotting/ideas/characters/research is writing. Living is writing. It all counts and will serve you well as you put to page.

That's a very positive way of looking at it. I would say the majority of writing I have done in my life is worldbuilding - writing out detailed histories on characters and places. I think I have it programmed into my mind that writing actual prose is the only writing that counts, and that can absolutely be a downer. Reading is writing is also a really helpful perspective to consider. I am glad I stumbled on this today. I think I am going to sign up for your patreon, if there is more like this!

You're very kind! Thank you. I try to have new on writing content once a week (or bigger articles when I have less than that) and some exclusives on my Patreon. I have a bunch of articles up on my site now if you head here though, for free https://rjhuneke.com/news/. Best, RJ
